Salmon Arm police investigate homicide of 73-year-old woman

On Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 5:30 pm, members of the Salmon Arm RCMP Detachment responded to a sudden death at a residence in the 4700 block of 10th Avenue SE within the city of Salmon Arm. A 73 year old woman was found laying in the carport of her home. The BC Ambulance Service attended to the area and attempted resuscitation without success.

As the cause of death could not be determined at the time of initial police attendance, members of the RCMP Forensic Identification Service attended and processed the area. As well, member of the RCMP Major Crime Unit attended and assisted local police into the investigation of this matter. A forensic autopsy was completed yesterday, August 15, 2011, which confirmed the cause of death to be suspicious in nature. As such, this is now a homicide investigation.

Members of the RCMP’s South East District Major Crime Unit remain in Salmon Arm, assisting local police with investigation into this matter. The cause of death is being withheld at this time. Police continue with investigation into this matter.

The deceased is 73 year old Pamela Jones of Salmon Arm. The Victim Services unit are working closely with the family.
