Charges laid in common-law partner murder, Penticton

A second degree murder charge has been laid against 56-year-old Keith Gregory Wiens in connection with the death of his common-law partner. Mr. Wiens appeared in Penticton Provincial Court this morning and has been remanded in custody.

Police attended Mr. Wiens residence yesterday morning after receiving a report that his 55-year-old common-law partner had been shot and was deceased. Mr. Wiens was arrested without incident upon police attendance.

Investigators from the Penticton General Investigation Section are continuing their investigation. The name of the deceased is not being released at the request of her family. An autopsy will be conducted today in Penticton.
