The Prince George Regional Provincial Traffic Services Unit was called to the scene of a single vehicle crash on Highway #97, approximately 25 kilometres north of Bear Lake, north of Prince George. At approximately 7:40 am, on August 25th, the RCMP was called to the scene of a crash, where a motorcycle was found lying on its side, just off the highway. The investigation located the motorcycle operator in close proximity to the motorcycle. The male was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased driver of the motorcycle has been identified as a fifty (50) year old male from Prince George, B.C. His name is being withheld at the request of the family.

The investigation, at this time would appear to indicate the motorcycle operator was alone and travelling southbound on Highway #97 in a right curve. The investigators are currently trying to determine why the motorcycle failed to negotiate the right curve, as it appeared to drive straight off the highway.

The investigation is also attempting to establish if speed, driver experience or the cool weather were factors in this incident.

The Prince George Regional Provincial Traffic Services Unit and the B.C. Coroner’s Service are conducting the investigation. A mechanical inspection, autopsy and collision reconstructionist report will hopefully provide more insight in to the cause of the crash.
