In September 2010, the Chatham-Kent Police Major Crime Unit conducted an investigation when a female youth reported she had been the victim of a sexual assault.
It is alleged that the man sexually assaulted the teen and convinced her to be a prostitute for him.
As a result of that investigation, the man was arrested and charged in September 2010 with sexual assault, sexual exploitation, and procuring. Investigators also received information that child pornographic material could be located on his computer. It was seized in relation to his arrest.
The Chatham-Kent Police Child Exploitation Unit had the computer forensically analyzed and it was found to contain images of child pornography.
Yesterday, officers located and arrested him.
Michel Gerard PERREAULT, 42, of Grand Avenue West in Chatham has been charged with possession of child pornography and accessing child pornography.
He was released and is scheduled to appear in court on October 11, 2011.
