3 shot dead in BrooklynThree people were shot dead and two New York City police officers were left injured in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. The victims include 29 year old Eusi Johnson and a 56 year old woman, Denise Gay and her daughter. The shootings have added to the misfortune faced by the city, as already 30 people were victimized by firearms over the weekend.

The police officials reported that a 32 year old man named Leroy Webster who bagged an elaborate criminal record , shot dead Eusi Johnson in the neck with his Ruger 9mm gun. A bystander, Denise Gay and her daughter was also shot dead on the spot. In the counter attack with the New York City Police officials, Webster was killed. The police men involved in the counter attack were Omer Medina and Avichaim Dicken.

The mayor, Mr. Bloomberg and Mr. Kelly held a press conference at 1.30 am outside the Brookdale University today.  Mr. Bloomberg, while expressing his views on Ms. Gay’s killing said “it was “a senseless murder and a painful reminder what happens when elected officials in Washington fail to take the problem of illegal guns seriously.”

The wounded police officers have been taken to the New York Methodist Hospital. Mr. Media is being treated for the shrapnel in his arm and sides and Mr. Dicken is being treated for his left elbow that was grazed in the counter attack. The doctors have reported that both the officers are in stable conditions.
