Police search for missing Surrey man Christopher Dennis Hannaford

The Agassiz RCMP is looking for the public’s assistance to locate a 28 year old man who was last seen camping with friends on an island near Harrison Mills on Saturday.

Christopher Dennis Hannaford is described as a 28 year old Caucasian man, 6’4" tall, 240 pounds, heavy build, blue eyes, shaved blonde-red hair, and has lots of freckles. He was last seen wearing black track pants, a t-shirt and a pullover sweat shirt. He currently resides in Surrey, BC, however his residence has been checked by police and there is no sign that he returned to his residence.

He was last seen by friends at 11:30 pm on Saturday evening, September 3, 2011, at the Old Orchard Campground located at 1401 Kennedy Road in Agassiz. The area where Christopher went missing is a gravel bar approximately 800 meters long and 7 meters wide and is connected to the mainland at the base of Mount Woodside on the South East bank of the Harrison River. Kent Search and Rescue has searched by foot as well as the Lower Mainland Police Dog Service. RCMP Air Services helicopter searched by air and extensive patrols of the river have been done by the RCMP First Nations Policing by jet boat as well as other water searches by Search and Rescue Sea Doo’s having no results.

Police have not been able to determine his whereabouts. The RCMP and family members are extremely concerned for his safety. If you were in the area between September 3rd and the 4th and think you may have seen Christopher or given him a ride you are asked to call the Agassiz RCMP.

"There were several people camping and fishing at the time of Christopher’s disappearance and we are hoping that someone may have seen him at some point during the evening of the 3rd or morning of the 4th," said Cpl. Tammy Hollingsworth. "At this point the is no indication that foul play is involved, but we are investigating every avenue with the hopes of safely locating Christopher."

As of today, September 6th, the investigation is ongoing and the search by ground, air and water continues.
