On Friday, September 16, 2011, at approximately 2:30 a.m., police were called to the Christie Street/Essex Street area in response to a sexual assault.
It is alleged that:
– at approximately 2 a.m., a 25-year-old woman was walking when she was approached from behind by a man who sexually assaulted her
At approximately 2:30 a.m., Franco Ruggiero, 34, of Toronto, was arrested.
He has been charged with:
– Threaten death
– Sexual assault with a weapon
– Obstruct Peace Officer
He appeared in court at Old City Hall, courtroom 101, on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 10 a.m.
