Cpl. Martin Joannette, 25
Based at CFB Valcartier, Que., Martin was lifelong military enthusiast who joined the cadets as teenager and later enlisted out of high school.
Cpl. Joannette had a “heart of gold and a remarkable generosity,” the general said. “He was a proud and devoted infantryman who excelled in adversity.”
Cpl. Joannette was on his third deployment in Afghanistan. He leaves behind his wife Marie-Eve and his parents.
