The Edmonton Police Service is releasing a composite sketch of a suspect in a recent sexual assault and series of indecent exposures in hopes that the public can help identify the individual.
The suspect is described as an Asian male, in his mid 20s, approximately 5’6,” of average build, with short black hair, and may be wearing thin metal frame glasses. The male was reported to be wearing a black jacket with a zipper, long black basketball-style shorts, and was riding a white retro-style bike with straight handlebars.
Background:
At approximately 6 p.m. on September 15, 2011, a man on a bicycle approached a 19-year-old woman at the south end of a pedestrian bridge at 114 Street and Whitemud Drive. The man got off his bike and allegedly exposed himself to the woman, who walked away from the suspect. The man followed her and she was allegedly groped in a sexual manner on the bridge.
It’s still under investigation whether the incident is related to prior occurrences this summer and the summer of 2010, when a male had exposed himself to random citizens. Some of these prior incidents have similar circumstances and investigators are still trying to determine if the various events are related. All of the incidents occurred in the southwest area, from approximately 51 Avenue to 34 Avenue, and in the vicinity of 111 Street.
