Winnipeg youth charged in the murder of David Michael Vincett

On Sunday, September 25th, 2011 at approximately 4:20 a.m., Winnipeg Police Service members responded to the area of Boyd Avenue and Andrews Street to check on the well being of an injured male. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male who has since been identified as 20 year old, David Michael VINCETT. 
 
An autopsy has been completed, and it has been determined that the victim succumbed to upper body injuries as a result of a firearm discharge.
 

The investigation has revealed that on September 25th, 2011 at approximately 3:00 a.m., the suspect was in the area of the 500 block of Boyd Avenue when he made contact with the victim. After a verbal exchange between the two, the suspect produced a gun and discharged it in the direction of the victim striking him in the upper body. The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival.
 
As a result of the ongoing investigation led by members of the Homicide Unit, a 14 year old male was arrested on September 27th, 2011 at approximately 9:35 p.m.
 
He has been charged with 1st Degree Murder and detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre.
