At approximately 9:30 p.m. last evening, New Minas RCMP and numerous fire services from the Coldbrook and surrounding areas responded to a structure fire at the Pineview Motel in Coldbrook, NS.

Firefighters are still on scene and are using heavy equipment to knock down portions of the remaining structure to allow for further access to the fire. The fire has caused extensive damage to the motel.

The RCMP is advising citizens that the westbound off-ramp at Exit 14 along Highway 101 is closed to traffic in order to allow fire trucks access to the scene.

The Provincial Fire Marshall’s Office and the RCMP will be on site once the fire is out to investigate to determine the cause of the fire.
