The Southwest  Nova Major Crime Unit (MCU) and Kings District RCMP are investigating the death of an infant baby boy.
 
At 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2012 Kings District RCMP responded to a call from Valley Regional Hospital involving a six-week-old Ethan Chetwynd who was suffering from cardiac arrest.   He was transported to the IWK Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries last night.  An autopsy is being completed in Halifax this afternoon.
 
On January 13, 2012,  RCMP laid Aggravated Assault  and Failing to Provide the Necessities of Life charges against 21-year-old Candace Chetwynd of Port Hastings and 26-year-old Shawn MacIsaac of Waterville.  Both were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Kentville Provincial Court on February 13, 2012 at 9:30 a.m.
 
The investigation is continuing with the RCMP South West Nova Major Crime Unit, Kings District RCMP and the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office.
