Dieppe pedestrian woman dies in a fatal collision with a bus

At approximately 1 p.m. on January 20, 2012, Codiac RCMP members were dispatched to the scene of a fatal collision at the corner of Main Street and King Street in Moncton.

Two pedestrians were crossing Main Street when one was hit by a Codiac Transpo bus. The 46-year-old woman from Dieppe was trapped under the bus. Heavy equipment had to be used to release her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.  The name of the victim is not being released so that her family can be properly notified.

The other person was not injured.

The area was cordoned off for approximately two hours.

An RCMP collision re-constructionist attended the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
