A man and a baby girl die in a single fatal vehicle crash on Wellington Road

The London Police Traffic Management Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate a crash that sent three of the vehicle occupants to hospital.

Shortly before 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2012, police were sent to a single motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road at Glanworth Drive. A motor vehicle was found to have left the roadway striking a tree. 

Three of the four occupants of the vehicle were extricated and taken to hospital, with the forth, a 38-year-old male occupant, being pronounced dead on scene. A second occupant, a 15- month old female, was transported to hospital and shortly after was pronounced dead.

A 20-year-old female and a 28-year-old male were treated at hospital for minor injuries and released.

Due to the continuing investigation, the identities of the occupants remain undisclosed at this time to allow notification of all next of kin.

Update: As the London Police Service Traffic Management Unit continues to investigate Saturday’s crash that claimed two lives, the names of the victims are now being released. James Thompson, 38-years-old, from St. Thomas, and 15-month-old Rayne Bogart, of St. Thomas and Straffordville were both passengers in the vehicle and died as a result of the injuries they sustained.

Police continue to investigate the cause and factors surrounding the collision.
