On September 1, 2010, the Huntington Park Police Department began investigating a reported indecent exposure that occurred in our community. The crime occurred off campus and near Gage Middle School.
On September 15, 2010, investigators from the Huntington Park Police Department continued their investigation at the Hernandez residence. In addition to the indecent exposure allegation, investigators developed enough probable cause to obtain a search warrant. Investigators confiscated Hernandez’ computer and other items from his home.
Investigators found a large quantity of child pornography. Investigators also located video images where Hernandez recorded himself engaging in lewd conduct with a young female student. At the time of Hernandez’ arrest he was employed by Inglewood School District as a substitute teacher.
Hernandez was subsequently booked at Huntington Park Police Department. Huntington Park Investigators sought and obtained a bail enhancement to $500,000. At the time of his arraignment the bail was reduced by the court. Hernandez was able to post bail.
Hernandez’ preliminary hearing was scheduled for September 30, 2010. He failed to appear and is believed to have fled to Mexico.
The case brought by the Huntington Park Police Department was filed by the District Attorney’s Office. There currently is a $60,000 warrant issued for his arrest. George Hernandez is currently being sought for indecent exposure and possession of child pornography.
