Houston man Charles J. Williams dies in a fatal accident at Gray

Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 1600 Gray about 2:25 p.m. on Thursday (May 31).

The victim, Charles J. Williams, 75, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Kung and Officer O. Sulaiman reported:

Mr. Williams, a City of Houston Public Works and Engineering Department employee, was on duty and conducting maintenance on a sewer line, accessed by a manhole cover. As he was standing in front of his vacuum pump truck, the truck rolled forward. Williams attempted to push against the truck, but he tripped and was fatally struck by the moving truck.

The investigation is continuing.
