House fire claims two lives in Burton , N.B.

The District 2 RCMP are investigating a fire that claimed the lives of two people on July 1, 2012.

On July 1, 2012 at approximately 8:15 a.m. the District 2 RCMP and the Oromocto Fire department responded to a house fire on Highway 102 in the Burton area. While the firemen were battling the blaze they discovered the bodies of a man and a woman inside the home. One victim has been identified as a resident of the home, an 87-year-old man. An autopsy will be required in order to positively identify the other victim.

Autopsies have been scheduled for July 2, 2012. The names of the victims will not be released pending notification of next of kind.

The District 2 RCMP in conjunction with the Provincial Fire Marshall and the Oromocto Fire Department are investigating the cause of the fire.  Fowl play is not suspected at this time.
