On Sunday July 8th 2012 at approximately 5:50 p.m., Windsor Police responded for a report of a collision at the intersection of Ottawa and Parent. Upon arrival, officers observed that there was a collision involving a red e-bike and a Silver GMC Sport Utility Vehicle. The 62 year old male rider of the e-bike was laying face down in the street suffering extensive head injuries. Ambulance attended the scene and immediately attended to the victim. Officers determined that the victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The victim was transported by ambulance to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The 30 year old male driver of the GMC was not injured. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the e-bike was travelling West on Ottawa Street approaching Parent Avenue and was struck by a Southbound GMC Denali traveling on Parent Avenue. The collision is still under investigation and charges are pending. Accident reconstruction attended the scene and is continuing their investigation.
