Investigators with the York Regional Police Collision Investigation Unit have laid charges following a fatal collision at Major Mackenzie Drive and Highway 400 in the City of Vaughan.
On Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at approximately 11:45 p.m., police were called to a collision on the northbound off-ramp of Hwy. 400 at Major Mackenzie Drive. Investigators have determined that a truck travelling westbound on Major Mackenzie Drive collided with the motorcycle.
The male driver of the motorcycle, a 45-year-old man from Richmond Hill, was pronounced dead at scene.
The driver of the truck, Larry Oliveira, 30, of Etobicoke, has been charged with Impaired Driving causing Death and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle causing Death. He will appear in Newmarket Provincial Court for a bail hearing sometime today.
The investigation is continuing.
