The president and General Manager of Raptors, Bryan Colangelo is extraordinarily confident that his team will be winning the upcoming season. Colangelo exclaimed that he know that there are ‘great times’ coming for the team in the coming four years. He was addressing the press in the team’s annual media day at the Air Canada Centre on Monday, when he stated that “there’s that feeling there could be something special about this group but time will tell.”

This overflowing hopefulness of Colangelo is, according to him, due to an explicit improvement in the team at Casey’s disposal and the one year the core of group has had together. GM confessed that he knew that last year was going to be hard but the expectations have completely changed this time around. He mentioned that “you go into a season excited about what the prospects are; I cannot say that I went into last season excited about what the prospects were.”

Colangelo justified that it it’s all due to “knowing that Jonas (Valanciunas, fifth pick of 2011’s draft) wasn’t coming over, knowing that it was going to be a struggle to win games, knowing it was part of the long grind of letting the young players play and learn and develop.” He announced that “this year you come in with different priorities and objectives. If last year was about developing, this year is about winning, more so than ever.”

Colangelo summed up his address by stated that “we keep talking about accelerating this process, that’s the new word,” and “by accelerating we have different goals, different objectives, different things in mind.”
