Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 6800 block of West 43rd Street about 6:30 am. on Tuesday (Nov. 6). 

The two victims, Jose Tovar, 69, of Houston, and Digna Evceda, age and address unknown, were pronounced dead at the scene. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Hall and Senior Police Officer R. Davidson reported: 

Mr. Tovar and his passenger, Ms. Evceda, were in a green Mazda Protege northbound on Southerland at a stop sign.  As the Mazda left the stop sign, it was struck by a white GMC Sierra pickup truck traveling eastbound on West 43rd Street at a high rate of speed.  Tovar and Evceda were killed.  The male driver of the GMC was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation is continuing.
