District 9 RCMP have identified the body of a man found last week along the shore of the Restigouche River as a 51-year-old Quebec man who had been missing since October 12, 2012.

The body of Randolph Mitchell of Listuguj First Nation, Quebec, was found on November 2, near McLeods, N.B., close to where his abandoned vehicle had been located on October 13. Forensic DNA comparisons were necessary to confirm that it was the body of Mr. Mitchell. Foul play has been ruled out as a cause of death.

An RCMP police dog, RCMP helicopter, Restigouche Ground Search and Rescue, Listuguj Rangers and Listuguj Fire Department were involved in a search that last for three days.
