The Former Cabinet Minister Charles Sousa has officially commenced his campaign for Ontario’s Liberal Leadership in Mississauga on Saturday, attempting to win the hearts and votes of the urban, rural and northern voters.

Sousa is one of the six expected GTA candidates competing for the job of Premier Dalton McGuinty, Sousa claimed that he intends to focus on generating more jobs and finishing the growth of local traffic gridlocks. He explained that he has plans of calling more transportation supports from up north after the closure of Ontario Northland’s rail service. Sousa gave up his position as an executive with Royal for becoming Mississauga South MPP in 2007. He now claims that “the economy and jobs, for me, are critical so we can afford the things we need like health care and education.”

Sousa was supported with numerous campaigners that were about 300 in numbers, who even blocked the parking lot of a Lakeshore Rd. banquet hall. Among the major personalities which shared stage with him, were two Liberal MPPs, Lorenzo Berardinetti and Soo Wong, Mississauga Mayor, Hazel McCallion. He promised to speed up the development of the vast “Ring of Fire” chromite deposit in northern Ontario by enhancing the transportation links and electricity transmission lines to help lower the provincial unemployment rate of 8.3 per cent. Sousa shared that he wants a private sector partner to take resume Ontario Northland’s rail service to North Bay and beyond as a critical link for goods and people.
