The manager of Red Lion Inn and Suites on Douglas Street is indicted with five charges of aggravated assault in connection with the numerous attacks which took place throughout the complex on Saturday.

52-years-old Zhi Wei Meng, who is often nicknamed as Wally, is scheduled to attend the Victoria provincial court this morning. One of the employees who helped tending the wounds reported that the kitchen of the Red Lion, at 3366 Douglas St. in Saanich, was flooded with “blood everywhere” because four victims were gathered there, along with the fifth one in the upstairs lobby.

Ron Schinners was routinely cooking food for an expectedly busy night, when out-of-nowhere the cook of the nearby Jade Fountain Restaurant arrived running in around 4 p.m. with blood flowing from an apparently punctured hole in his stomach. The crowd was super astonished once the other three men of Jade Fountain arrived running behind him with noticeable wounds. Two of them suffered cuts in their arms, while the third was apparently cut on the back of his neck.

Schinners stated that “It’s freaky because all these people are getting stabbed and you don’t know what’s going on.” He shared that when “you see four people randomly stabbed, you think: Is there a psycho on the loose or what?” The police department confirmed on Sunday that these men were actually stabbed by a suspect using a pair of closed scissors. The initial two stabbings took place in the lower level of Jade Fountain Restaurant, while the third was stabbed in the kitchen.
