An Ontario Superior Court Justice, Charles Hackland, announced the ruling of a class action law suit against the Mayor of Toronto, Rob Ford, ordering him to leave his office immediately. Hackland declared that he has assuredly found out that Rob Ford did break the conflict-of-interest rules.

Ford was accused of breaking the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act, as he spoke and voted in the city council on the verdict of whether he should repay $3,150 in donations collected for his football charity. The lawsuit was filed by a Toronto resident, named Paul Magder, who alleged that Ford was in complete and utter violation of the act, and hence he shall be immediately fired from his office and even banned from running for the office again.

The Ontario Superior Court Justice announced that Ford is not entitled to assert that his actions were a mistake, a slip-up or an error in judgment made in good faith. Hackland explained that Ford has shown a “stubborn sense of entitlement” and a “dismissive and confrontational attitude” toward the integrity commissioner.

The issue in question of this case was Ford’s partaking in a council vote, when it was deciding whether to repay the money he had importuned for a private purpose using city letterhead, when he was a councillor. Furthermore, Hackland declared Ford ineligible for another campaign in the future and put his declaration on hold for 14 days to give the city time to make plans to deal with the situation.
