Elderly driver dies in a double-vehicle fatal collision at Cheticamp, N.S.

RCMP Cheticamp is investigating a two-vehicle fatal collision that occurred at about 10:30 a.m. yesterday.

A 911 call was received advising of a serious injury collision near the Cheticamp Motel. Preliminary investigation revealed that a dump truck was traveling north on Cabot Trail while the other vehicle was traveling south when the collision occurred in an area where there was construction. The 63-year-old male driver of the car later succumbed to his injuries while the female passenger received minor injuries. The driver of the dump truck was not injured. 

The road was closed for a period of time and has now been re-opened. RCMP Traffic Analysts attended the scene and the cause of the collision is still under investigation. The name of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of Next-of-Kin.
