The Hamilton Police Service (HPS) has arrested and charged a Hamilton man with Sexual Assault after he assaulted a woman he met on an Internet dating website.
On December 11th, 2012 just before midnight, the HPS responded to a home on Oriole Cres. near Britannia Ave. to investigate a sexual assault in progress. On arrival, HPS located the alleged suspect outside of the home. He was arrested.
It is alleged that the victim and the suspect met on an Internet dating website in August 2012. The two kept minimal contact but eventually exchanged phone numbers and agreed to meet on December 11th, 2012 at the victim’s home. The suspect arrived and while he was there he sexually assaulted the victim. The victim was able to get away and ran from her home. The suspect fled the home when he realized the victim was calling police. The victim returned to her home and the suspect also returned. He banged on her door and threatened to harm her if she didn’t open the door. Hamilton Police arrived and arrested the suspect outside of her home. He was held for a bail hearing.
The investigation is ongoing by the Division Two Detectives.
