One of the key contenders of federal Liberal leadership race, Martha Hall Findlay, snapped at Canada’s current Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, during an interview today. She alleged that PM is in giving what she called “absolute, blind, unilateral support of Israel, at all costs,” while asserting that a completely unconditional one-sided approach is “not conducive to a solution” of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. In fact, she suggested that Canada shall indeed strongly support Israel but while also leaving space and courage of criticizing Israel where criticism is need, while exemplifying with Israel’s intention of allowing more settlements in strategic areas of the West Bank.

Furthermore, Findlay mentioned during her interview that she will not hesitate in implementing a wealth tax on the richest Canadians, while highlighting she will also not tolerate any tax increase until the economy is sustainable again. She expressed her intention of holding up more old age security benefits from relatively well-off seniors. Findlay refused to promise whether she will run for the Liberals in the next federal election, in case she ends up losing the party leader position. Furthermore, she also criticized the aboriginal protests and Idle No More movement, urging that police shall break up these illegal demonstrations and requested Attawapiskat Chief, Theresa Spence, to give up her month-long hunger strike.

Hall Findlay is one of six liberal leadership candidates, who do not reside a position in the House of Commons at the moment, while the remaining three, including Justin Trudeau, Marc Garneau and Joyce Murray, are sitting MPs.
