Amid ongoing scandals, B.C. Premier Christy Clark has prominently stated that her cabinet is “united,” as she summed up a three-hours-long emergency cabinet meeting in Vancouver on  Sunday night. A total of eighteen Liberal cabinet ministers were called up for an emergency meeting with Clark, which was called purposefully so that she could converse wither her team for the first time since a scandal exploded regarding a leaked plan to persuade ethnic voters.

Clark boasted after the meeting that “this group is absolutely united and we have a lot of work to do on behalf of British Columbians.” She also openly stated that she has no intention to resign at all, negating recent calls from some B.C. Liberal Party members suggesting that she shall step down from her position. Previously on Sunday, almost 100 B.C. Liberal Party members attended a breakfast meeting in Surrey on Sunday morning and collectively demanded that Premier Christy Clark shall offer resignation. The attendants of the meeting asserted that Clark must resign in case the party is hoping for a comeback timely enough for the upcoming provincial election in May. A former mayoral candidate in Surrey, who also attended the meeting, Vikram Bajwa, alleged that “she must step forward, show her leadership qualities and resign.”

Whereas, on the other hand, the Liberal cabinet ministers who attended Sunday’s meeting affirmed as a group that they still completely support the premier. Minister of Community Sport and Cultural Development, Bill Bennett, alleged that “she’s a trooper… she’s our leader. We have a lot of faith in her,” while Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Mary Polak, also reiterated that “she has apologized. With the action she has taken, I can’t see what else she could do to correct the situation.”
