Police has recently confirmed a grieving news of a Guelph police constable’s death due to a car accident with the public transit bus, while she was responding to a call on early Thursday morning. 26-year-old Const. Jennifer Kovach was riding her police cruiser that crashed with the bus on Imperial Road South in Guelph at about 12:30 a.m.

Police spokesperson stated during a press release on Thursday that it is a “sad and tragic day” for Guelph Police Service and the city, i.e. located about 70 kilometres west of Toronto.  It was mentioned that “Constable Kovach exemplified the values of our service and was committed to making a difference.” It added that “Jennifer was fulfilling her dream as a police officer and we will forever remember her zest for life, her strong sense of adventure and her gregarious smile that brightened all our lives.” Kovach was the daughter of Guelph city Coun. Gloria Kovach.

It was further elucidated that Jennifer Kovach was attending to a call for assisting at least one of her colleagues at the time her northbound cruiser crossed the centre line and collided with the bus near the entrance to the West End Recreational Centre. Kovach was quickly ejected from her vehicle by firefighters and shifted to Guelph General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead soon after. She was the only occupant of her police cruiser, whereas the Guelph Transit bus was also driven be a female driver alone. The driver of bus was soon treated for minor injuries.
