 Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident at 411 Crosstimbers about 8:50 a.m. on June 20.

The suspect, Maria Guadalupe Reyes (H/f, DOB: 6-25-77), is charged with failure to stop and render aid in the 338th State District Court. She is accused in the death of Maria Hernandez, 57, of the above address.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeants D. Morgan and A. Francois, Senior Police Officer J. Sexton and Officer O. Lewis reported:

Mrs. Hernandez was sweeping her driveway and standing in the street’s bike lane when she was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. Witnesses reported the vehicle was a gray, early 1990’s Honda or Nissan passenger car driven by a white or Hispanic man in his 50s.

Investigators learned the identity of the suspect as Maria Reyes and arrested her without incident on Saturday (June 26). She provided a statement admitting to her role as the driver who struck Ms. Hernandez.
