At approximately 4:45 p.m. on the 7th of May 2013, a collision occurred between a pedestrian and a cement truck.

At that time, a cement truck was travelling northbound on 12th Street SE, approaching the intersection with 10th Avenue.  Traffic was slow moving due to delays with traffic flow ahead.

As the vehicle moved across the intersection, a 22 year old male pedestrian crossed the north side of the intersection in an unmarked crosswalk.  The pedestrian’s path of travel intersected with that of the moving cement truck and the pedestrian was dragged under the truck and received serious injuries as a result.

The pedestrian was transported from the scene by EMS to the Foothills Medical Centre, but later succumbed to his injuries.

Police do not believe alcohol and speed to be factors in this collision at this time.
