The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) Child Protection Section has arrested an Edmonton diving coach wanted on warrants for alleged sexual-related offences by the Saanich Police Department (SPD) in British Columbia.
The SPD requested the assistance of the EPS in affecting the man’s arrest. He was arrested by the EPS on Wednesday, May 8, 2013.
Trevor Palmatier, 43, is charged with sexual exploitation (x2) and procuring. Palmatier will be temporarily remanded in Edmonton then transported to Saanich, B.C. Further information on the charges is available from the Saanich Police Department.
Saanich Police Detectives have shared that the man is believed to have developed close personal relationships with his athletes while in his position as a diving coach. A teenage male victim has come forward to provide information to police in relation to the charges stemming from Saanich, B.C.
Given the man’s position as a diving coach, the EPS Child Protection Section is concerned there may be other complainants in Edmonton who have yet to contact police, and that the man may also pose a risk to prospective students.
Police continue to investigate and urge individuals who may have been victimized
