At 8:05 a.m. today Mosquodoboit Harbour RCMP responded to a call of two Halifax men who had capsized their boat on Trout Lake.

Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the boaters had a medical condition that prevented him from walking to safety. However, his friend made contact with RCMP. Emergency Health Services, Department of Natural Resources and members from the “Marine Riders” volunteer group responded. They were able to locate the man who had accessed a local cabin to obtain blankets to keep warm.

A Cormoran helicopter from the Department of National Defense has been dispatched to the Trout Lake area to assist with the rescue. The 51-year-old Halifax man will be taken by EHS to hospital for treatment for exposure. The investigation is continuing.
