Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the apparent accidental death of a man at 1247 West 34th Street about 4:30 p.m. on Thursday (July 11).

The identity of the victim, 43, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Officer E. Zugner reported:

The victim was working at the Consolidated Distributors Incorporated, at the above address, and placing dry styrofoam into an industrial shredder.  The shredder then melts the dry styrofoam into a foam, which is then placed into bags and stored on site.  The victim, working alone at the time, reached inside the machine with his right hand and the blades of the shredder pulled him into the machine, causing his fatal injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
