Members of the York Regional Police Homicide Unit are releasing the cause of death in the murders of two Toronto men on the early morning of July 12, 2013. Following a post-mortem examination, the cause of death for both victims was determined to be multiple gunshot wounds.
On Friday, July 12, 2013, at 1 a.m., York Regional Police responded to a weapons call outside the Terrace Banquet Hall on Creditstone Road near Rutherford Road. Officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One man was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was transported to hospital where he died from his injuries.
Homicide investigators attended the scene and determined that the men were shot outside the banquet hall where a private party had been underway. Investigators believe there may have been up to 500 people in attendance, with about 100 remaining at the time of the shooting.
The victims have been identified as Salvatore Calautti, 41 years, and James Tusek, 35 years, both of the City of Toronto.
Investigators have obtained a video recording from the area and are currently analyzing the footage. Members of the Homicide Unit would like to speak with anyone who attended the party and to any witnesses who were in the area or saw anyone running in the area around the time of the murders.
It’s wcomment_IDely speculated the Rizzuto Family may be behind this hit. Both Calautti and Tusek were known to be from the Calabrian ‘Ndrangheta. As previously reported, it was the Calabrian’s that were pushing for the ouster and complete elimination of the Rizzuto Family as Vito sat in prison.
