On Sunday, July 14, 2013 at approximately 3:30 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service along with other emergency personnel were dispatched to the 300 block of Young Street for the report of stabbing.
Attending members located a 24 year old female suffering from stab wounds to the upper body. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable. A second female was found to have been physically assaulted. Medical attention was not required.
The investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit. It was learned that the accused and the two victims had been socializing when an argument between the two victims and the accused occurred. The situation escalated to the point where the accused produced a knife and stabbed the victim after which he fled the scene.
On Monday, July 15, 2013 the accused was located and arrested.
Manuel Joseph Craveiro 24 years of Winnipeg has been charged with:
– Attempted Murder x 2
– Assault
– Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
