Detectives are investigating Durham Region’s seventh homicide of the year after a 17-year-old Ajax male was shot after a party.

On Friday, July 23rd, 2010 at approximately 1:20 a.m., officers were called to the St. Nedela Macedonia Orthodox Church property near the corner of Bayly Street West and Westney Road in Ajax regarding a shooting. Approximately 100 people were at a party in the basement of the church when several males got into a verbal argument in the parking lot.

One male was shot in the parking lot behind the church and several male suspects were seen getting into a vehicle and driving away. A friend of the victim attempted to get the victim into a vehicle and drive him to hospital when police and ambulance arrived on scene. The victim was pronounced at the scene.

Officers surrounded the area and are interviewing numerous people who were at the party. The investigation is ongoing and there have been no arrests at this time.
