RCMP have arrested a 66-year-old man after responding to a complaint of a man with a firearm in Baillie, N.B.

On August 22, 2013, at approximately 7:40 p.m., St. Stephen RCMP responded to a complaint of a man threatening to harm himself with a firearm at a residence on Highway 3 in Baillie.

When police arrived the man refused to put down the firearm. After attempting to negotiation with the man for approximately 30 minutes police were able to disarm the man by using a conducted energy weapon. 

The firearm was recovered and the man taken into custody. He was then taken to hospital as a precaution for a medical assessment.

The investigation is continuing.
