A 71-year-old Eel River Crossing man has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault in connection with a stabbing on Sunday afternoon.

Burnie MacIntyre appeared in Campbellton Provincial Court on September 9, 2013. He did not enter a plea. The judge ordered a 30-day psychiatric assessment and MacIntyre will return to court on October 7, at 9:30 a.m. 

On September 8, police were called to a business in Eel River Crossing where a 60-year-old man had been stabbed. The man was taken to hospital in Saint John where he remains in stable condition.
