The Federal NDP Leader, Thomas Mulcair, mentioned in a speech to his caucus that his party is “better option” for voters seeking an alternative in Ottawa, highlighting that the vices of current government as corruption, misrepresentation of struggling middle class and income inequality. Mulcair was addressing his caucus in Saskatoon on Wednesday morning, when he alleged that NDP is the only party that “speaks on behalf of all Canadians.”

The NDP leader attacked both the Conservatives and the Liberals, asserting that both parties were cut from the same cloth. He alleged that “Canadians have had enough,” and “the fact of the matter is Ottawa is broken and while the Liberals simply wait for their turn at the trough, the NDP is still the only party that can and will fix it.” This bolstering speech of Mulcair has come at a strategic time when recent polls have illustrated growing support for the Liberals under the leadership of Justin Trudeau.

Commenting over the party’s strategy in the recent future, an analyst alleged that NDP will maintain that its main goal is to take on the Conservative government to task, however behind closed doors they’re also discussing how to deal with the Liberals. It was stated that “you can sense that sense of really needing to get their game off the ground and to get into action at this particular meeting.” It is reported that the party is displaying polling numbers for past Liberal leaders Stephane Dion and Michael Igantieff to its caucus members, attempting to view Trudeau’s popularity into context.
