Green Toyota Prius passenger dies in a fatal traffic accident at 7500 Westheimer

Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 7500 Westheimer about 10:40 a.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 17).  

The male victim was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in critical condition.  Doctors pronounced him dead on Wednesday (Sept. 18).  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Francois and Senior Police Officer R. Davidson reported:  

According to witnesses, the driver of a green Toyota Prius had the green light and was making a left turn from Westheimer onto Hillcroft.  The driver of a white Toyota Tacoma, traveling westbound on Westheimer, ran the red light and struck the Prius.  The right front passenger of the Prius (victim) was transported to the hospital and later died.  

No charges have been filed at this time.  The investigation is continuing.
