The Mounties have recently procured legal procedure to acquire documents from suspended Sen. Pamela Wallin, the Senate and the auditors who conducted an elaborative forensic examination of her expenses, as they claim to leave no stone unturned in their attempt to build up a case of breach of trust and fraud over inappropriate expenses. Sources say that Police has sought documents for over a three-year period, including Wallin’s Senate credit card and mobile phone records, memos between Wallin and the Senate committee on internal economy, between her and auditors, and between auditors and the Senate committee.

RCMP investigator Const. Michael Johnson allegedly filed an information-to-obtain request in court on Friday. The RCMP is also trying to obtain a copy of letter authored by by Wallin’s former executive assistant to then internal economy committee member, Sen. Carolyn Stewart-Olsen, in 2012, in which she raised concerns about Wallin’s expenses and general treatment of her. Whereas, Police is also seeking reports of Deloitte auditors who examined her expenses and found many “inconsistencies” in her electronic and hand-written calendars, while noting that Wallin didn’t even attend some scheduled events.

Johnson has asked court to grant the RCMP access to system-generated reports on all expenses paid by Wallin to the Senate and all expenses paid to her by the Senate. Johnson has sought copies of her electronic calendar with three different data download dates. Sen. Wallin has now become the fourth Senator to be accused of alleged criminal offences in recent months, along with other Stephen Harper appointees Patrick Brazeau, Mike Duffy and former Liberal senator Mac Harb.
