Suspect Xavier Shrod Dukes charged with murder in a fatal shooting incident at 13350 Northborough

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 13350 Northborough about 1:40 a.m. last Saturday (Nov. 9).

The suspect, Xavier Shrod Dukes (b/m, DOB: 8-8-89), is charged with murder in the 232nd State District Court.  A photo of Dukes is attached to this news release.

The victim, John Bates-Williams, 24, of the above address, was pronounced dead at the scene.  

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants T. Versluis, T. Simmons and Officers L. Wright and J. Rexroad reported:  

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the Canfield Lakes Apartments at the above address.  Officers arrived and found Mr. Bates-Williams lying on the ground in the apartment complex parking lot near the vehicle entrance gate.  He appeared to have been shot.  HFD emergency personnel responded and pronounced him deceased.  

Further investigation identified Dukes as a suspect in this case and, on Sunday (Nov. 10), he was arrested without incident.
