Ontario Superior Court was told by an assistant Crown attorney on Tuesday that the two videos acquired by Toronto police in relation to their investigation of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford contain imagery of the same event. During the hearing before Justice Ian Nordheimer, where an accused Torontonian drug dealer has sought permission to be allowed to view the videos as he is directly linked to its creation, the judge straightforwardly questioned a prosecutor about what was on the video.
According to assistant Crown attorney, Grace Hession David, one video can be described as a “subset” of the other, which is allegedly about 90 seconds. It was publicly announced by Toronto Police Chief, Bill Blair, on Oct. 31 that police technology experts have recovered two videos “relevant” to the Ford investigation. An accused drug dealer, Muhammad Khattak, was arrested in June during police investigation called, Project Traveller, which targeted drug-dealing network in the city’s west end.
However, Mr. Khattak is now more popular due to his appearance in a photo taken among other gang members and Mayor Ford, which was circulated by others in an effort to prove their credibility while attempting to shop the video to the media. However, 19-year-old Khattak was not among those who attempted to sell the video. Accordingly, his lawyer also claims that their clients name is becoming more popular because he was linked to his photo with the mayor, which was widely published in association with media stories about the video.
