Prominent businessman Richard Oland’s son, Dennis Oland, has been scheduled to appear in Saint John provincial court on Wednesday afternoon after being arrested a day before in connection with his father’s death two years ago. Saint John police has not confirmed why it arrested Dennis Oland, and what charges will he be facing. 69-year-old Mr. Oland was found dead in his uptown office on July 7, 2011.

Police is expected to reveal more information into the arrest in a press conference scheduled to take place at police headquarters at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. 45-year-old Dennis Oland was arrested on Tuesday and quickly scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday afternoon, though this appearance time was subsequently changed to 9:30 a.m. the following day. Although, in acceptance of a request submitted by suspect’s lawyer, Gary Miller, the court appearance was again delayed until Wednesday afternoon. Consequently, Dennis Oland is now planned to appear in Saint John provincial court on Wednesday afternoon.

Record shows that Dennis Oland was last known person to see his father alive, while they were at the company’s Far End Corporation office on Canterbury Street on July 6. When inquired by police, Dennis Oland explained his activates of that day, saying “until I went over to his office, it was a very typical day.” Although, previously released search warrants found that two men working downstairs in the office, Anthony Shaw and John Ainsworth, heard noises coming from Richard Oland’s office that night.
