Officials confirm that another 70 Canada soldiers are now stationed in the Philippines to counter the drastic affects in aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan, while more help is expected to join on Friday evening. These soldiers mainly constitute of medics who will form mobile first aid teams and provide initial medical care to typhoon survivors. In a statement issued via teleconference on Friday, Lt.-Col. Walter Taylor explained that “while we’re building our own camp and establishing ourselves, I’m very pleased to say that tomorrow, our time, we’ll be pushing the first mobile medical team out to one of the evacuation centres where our NGO partners have identified a significant requirement for medical attention.” Reports confirm that an additional group of soldiers are anticipated to leave again with a water purification unit on Friday.
