George Zimmerman, 30, a former neighborhood watch, has been arrested in Seminole County, Florida, after the local authorities responded to a ‘disturbance call’ at a home. The house was located on Topfield Court, in an area of Apopka, fifteen miles north of Orlando. No further details were leaked though the sheriff assured that the arrest report will be soon released.
Zimmerman has a string of charges filed against him which start from February 2012 when he was arrested forty four days after he shot and killed Trayvon Martin, a seventeen old teenager. The fact that the teenager was black and Zimmerman was a white Hispanic caused the case to take a racial overtone and got popular nationwide when the local authorities refused to arrest Zimmerman immediately. Zimmerman was later acquitted of charges of murder but he did not stop making headlines.
George Zimmerman’s wife, Shellie Zimmerman, filed an appeal for divorce on August 2012 and went to an extent of saying that she doubted Zimmerman’s innocence in Trayvon Martin case. In September 2012, Zimmerman was found speeding outside Orlando, in Lake Mary Florida. Zimmerman has been pulled over three times after the Martin murder case and ticketed for speeding. Zimmerman made headlines again when Shellie Zimmerman accused him of threatening her with a firearm during a domestic fight between them. The case was not filed and none of them were charged as the authorities did not find the action escalate to a criminal activity.
