On Tuesday, August 24, 2010, the Toronto Police Service arrested a man after an investigation into a number of thefts in the area of Laird Drive/Eglinton Avenue East.

It is alleged that:

– from January 2010 to August 2010, the accused watched customers leaving stores with their purchases,

– once the victim would leave to do other errands in the shopping area, the accused would break into their cars,

– in some cases, he followed shoppers to their residence/business and broke into into there vehicles while they were left unattended.

Yercit Martinez-Mayorga, 37, of Toronto, was charged with:

– 12 counts of Theft Under,
– four counts of Mischief Under,
– Attempt Theft Under.

Police believe there may be other victims.

He was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, 444 College Park, at 10 a.m.
