Another restaurateur has revealed her plans to quit the Manitoba town of Morris, asserting that she is being victimized by customers and others in the society as she presented a racist message as proof. Thea Morris runs a Jamaican eatery, named Thea’s Diner, which she now claims have been isolated due to some customers trying to intimidate her. She alleged that “a lot of stuff has been happening that’s killing my business, and I’m also a little bit scared for my safety.”

Though born in Jamaica, Morris now lives in Winnipeg and travels to the restaurant daily. She reported that a customer once told her that she is being avoided because she is black. Additionally, she complained that several groups of customers often come to act disrespectful and condescending towards her and her staff. Explaining such instances, she revealed that when “the waitress or the waiter will come back to get the coffee or the drink or the tea and pour it all to [bring] it to them, only for them to get up and walk out.” She further added that “they give no reason. They just get up, grab their coat and leave.”

In addition to that, Morris exposed a racist message she received after posting an online ad for jobs in her restaurant. She reported that “they responded they’re recruiting for the KKK and if I want to join.” She also revealed another such message, which said that “you guys still chasing colours out of your towns out there? I believe the KKK has a chapter in south Dakota you should join!”
